Every mighty tree starts with a seed, and for the past ten years, as a church we’ve sown the gospel into New York City and beyond. Seeds of hope, truth and grace that will not return void. What began in 2013 as a dinner party and a God dream has brought us here, to the brink of taking ground in this city by purchasing a permanent church home in Manhattan.
Over 10 years, we have hosted services in 38 venues across New York City. Now, it’s time for a place to call home. We believe in leaving a legacy, a revival that does not stop with us but, by our generosity, is carried from generation to generation. A permanent place of worship, a beacon of light to New York City and beyond.
From 2013 to 2018, more than three dozen houses of worship and similar buildings in Manhattan were razed or redeveloped to make way for different uses, according to the Manhattan Borough President’s office. With more than 900 sites in Manhattan currently classified as religious buildings, 200 are considered vulnerable, threatened properties. Across the United States, old churches are being repurposed.
Churches are closing their doors, unable to hold onto properties. What once were houses of worship—architecture carefully designed and beautifully crafted to point people to God—are now in disrepair, falling in the hands of developers to become apartment complexes, restaurants, night clubs, libraries, frat houses and coffee shops.
